Meet my new obsession. The game that will officially destroy my social life then shoot it in the face for good measure.

I give you Guild Wars 2, a MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game that will change the face of gaming. To be honest I was skeptical at first, sure I played World of Warcraft when it first came out and I was addicted to say the least but for years now I’ve turned my back on MMO games because they just don’t do it for me anymore. They all feel the same and its become generic. Don’t get me wrong Warcraft was a game changer but its time for something new.

Guild Wars 2 is the salvation that MMO’s need, at first glance the graphics are gorgeous! I never thought an MMO could have graphics this beautiful. The game also features a combat style that is unique to MMOs, you can dodge and jump out of your enemy’s attack and the movement is fluid almost what you would expect from an RPG.

But one of the best features is that they have destroyed ‘The Holy Trinity’ of MMO gaming which is the Healer, DPS, and tank. Now all players have the freedom to do all of these and questing won’t involve hours of searching for a healer and tank only to give up in the end. If that wasn’t enough, they also have something called dynamic events where you are encouraged to explore instead of simply running up to NPCs and collecting quests.

You could be walking towards a village only to find it being torn apart and burned by bandits. You have so many options to complete the quest, you could help kill of the bandits, you could put out the fires, and you can even feed the cows (long story). Players are actually encouraged to work together because unlike other MMO’s if you dive in and help a friend you also get XP and rewards. Its not about who hit the enemy first, and thats always a welcome change because players now work together instead of against each other.

Even the professions are unique and have broken down the typical barriers, melee classes can now wield longbows and create ranged attacks, and ranged classes can carry great swords and smash their foes faces in. Its all about your unique play style and preferences, with the key term being the freedom to choose instead of being locked into one role.

Oh and lets not forget the character customization! Im a girl I can’t help it. You have the freedom to customize so many aspects of your character and you can even dye your armor thus creating a truly unique playing experience.

The PvP videos have got me drooling and the PvE is just as good. Honestly, the only downside to the game is that it hasn’t come out yet.

One thing that gamers will be thrilled to hear about is that there is NO MONTHLY FEE, yes thats right, you pay for the game once and play it, thats it!

There is so much to talk about when it comes to this game. I could go on for pages and pages but I’ll let the trailers do the talking for me.

Side Note: I signed up for the beta, but since there are over 1 million beta sign ups (yes that wasn’t a typo it really is 1 million) I doubt I’ll get my hands on a beta key but if I do I’ll be sure to review it for you guys.
