The best part about these photographs is that they aren’t photographs!

Ok, let me explain. Its a type of art called hyper realistic paintings where an artist draws a subject with so much skill and precision that it actually looks like a real photograph.

The following images demonstrate this beautifully. They are a series of paintings by the Dutch Photo-realistic artist Tjalf Sparnaay. He mostly paints food, and I have to admit that I had to do a double-take before I could believe that these are paintings!

His oil paintings cost between $15,000 to $60,000 (approx. KD4,000 to KD17,000), which is why Sparnaay is now considered to be one of the most important contemporary painters working in this style.

Now Im hungry.
