Sometimes too much free time drives a person to do nothing and other times drives the person to create something, Pete Fecteau has created something quite remarkable. I myself can’t solve a rubik’s cube, this man used 4,242 of them and created a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It is not a matter of placing a block, it is not mosaic, he had to solve each puzzle to match the overall artwork. He of course had some sort of computer generated reference, telling him where to place what but the most challenging part is solving the cubes so that they match.

This artwork measures at 5.8m x 2.6m, weighs 454kg and took around 40 hours to create. This technique is not new though, but Pete’s artwork seems to be the largest of its kind.
