Normally when it comes to apps I usually download the game then give an honest review, or at least try to. But this case is different, I was so moved by the story behind this app that I decided to promote its cause instead of providing a review.

The game is called Allied Star Police, and it was made by Owain Weinert, a very bright 10 year old who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.

When Owen was approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, his wish was to work with real game developers to create his own game. So the foundation apporached the well known game developing company called Pop-Cap and they volunteered to work with Owen.

So Owen gave them the full presentation that he had already prepared on how the game would be like, and in one week, his creation was complete.

The game is offered for free on the Apple App Store but all proceeds are donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Though I don’t know how that works since the game doesn’t cost anything.

I’ve played the game and its actually very engaging so I have to say Owen is a very gifted 4th grader.
